The *business* of software

I've been analyzing micro-ISVs for the past couple of days using PAD files from the Association of Shareware Professionals. It's not a perfect data set, but it did give me 76,066 products to work with.

Some highlights:

The most popular price point (nearly 10% of all apps) is $29.95. A third of apps are free, and a third use nine common price points.

Countries with the most micro-ISVs are: US, UK, Russia, China, India, Canada, Germany and Australia.

Read the full report and let me know if you have any further insights, or any other questions that could be answered in the future from this data.

Tarek, I'm planning on it, probably in mid-December again so I can compare some of the results year on year.
